Acrobat DC (2015 to 2021 versions), Acrobat 2015, Acrobat 2017, Acrobat 2020

Acrobat DC is the marketing name of Adobe's new 2015 release of Acrobat. (DC stands for Document Cloud). Although this follows version 11.0 it is not version 12.0, but is either referred to as Acrobat 15 or Acrobat 2015 (to match version numbering for Creative Cloud products). It was released on 7 April 2015. There are more details on Adobe's site. Note that, although Cloud is part of the name, Acrobat itself is installed and used on your local hard drive, as with earlier versions.

In 2017, a paid upgrade upgrade appeared, called Acrobat 2017, followed by Acrobat 2020.

Macintosh users will need a new plug-in if they are running version 3 plug-ins or older. For details please see this page. Windows users are recommended to use the new version.

From October 2015 some users of Acrobat DC will have an update which shows PDF documents in tabs. To work correctly, you will need Quite Imposing Plus 4.0d or later.

New 'Page in use' error in Acrobat DC. Please see Acrobat DC support page. for more info. A new version of Acrobat from Adobe fixes this issue.

For the 2017 versions please ensure you have Quite Imposing Plus 4.0k or later.

We do not have any news at this time on our other plug-ins, Quite A Box Of Tricks and Quite Revealing but please email sales@quite.com if you want to be informed of developments. Acrobat DC support page.

Adobe Creative Cloud (CC) information

The "all apps" version of Creative Cloud includes, as of 2019, the subscription version of Acrobat DC. Please see above.

Older Acrobat versions

Information is also available on our plug-ins in Acrobat XI (11), Acrobat X (10), Acrobat 9.

macOS information

All of our plug-ins, and Quite Hot Imposing, are available for macOS (formerly "Mac OS X"). Current versions of the product are not tested or supported on systems older than Sierra (mac OS 10.12). Version 5 products run on Catalina, Big Sur, Monterey, and Ventura. Before upgrading to macOS 14 (Sonoma) please check the status since there are known issues.

New "Arm" Macs (M1, M2 etc)

A new range of Mac computers using "ARM" chips instead of Intel was launched in late 2020. These are called "M1" or "M2" Macs, though they were earlier called "Apple Silicon". These require the new Big Sur system. Version 5.3 of Quite Imposing Plus can run "native" on M1/M2; changes to Acrobat preferences may be needed. See this page for details.

Mac OS 14 (Sonoma)

Sonoma is Apple's name for the new version of the Macintosh macOS system, released on 26 September 2022. This is a major upgrade. As for Catalina, Big Sur, Monterey and Ventura, no version 4 apps can run. Before upgrading to macOS 14 (Sonoma) please make sure you are running 5.3m or later, to avoid crashes.

Mac OS 13 (Ventura)

Ventura is Apple's name for the new version of the Macintosh macOS system, released on 24 October 2022. This is a major upgrade. As for Catalina, Big Sur, and Monterey,no version 4 apps can run. Version 5.0f is needed for Ventura; 5.3 for M1/M2 Macs. See this page for details.

Mac OS 12 (Monterey)

Monterey is Apple's name for the new version of the Macintosh macOS system, released on 25 October 2021. This is a major upgrade. As for Catalina and Big Sur, no version 4 apps can run. Version 5.0f is needed for Monterey. See this page for details.

Mac OS 11.0/10.16 (Big Sur)

Big Sur is Apple's name for the updated version of the Macintosh macOS system, released on 12 November 2020. This is a major upgrade. As for Catalina no version 4 apps can run. Version 5.0f is needed for Big Sur. See this page for details.

Mac OS 10.15 (Catalina)

Catalina is Apple's name for the updated version of the Macintosh macOS system, released on 7 October 2019. This is a very major upgrade and makes almost all old apps and plug-ins obsolete. It has been well publicised that older "32 bit" apps can no longer run, but there are many other important changes that were less well publicised. No Quite product up to and including version 4 will run.

A new version of Quite Imposing Plus and Quite Hot Imposing will be needed. Version 5.0 is available for upgrade now.

macOS 10.12 (Sierra), 10.13 (High Sierra), 10.14 (Mojave)

Quite Imposing Plus 4 works just the same as on older systems. However, you will only be able to install if you use version 4.0i or later.

Quite Hot Imposing versions up to 4.0a will generally crash if a new install is made to Sierra or later. Quite Hot Imposing 4.0b or later is required.

Mac OS 10.11 (El Capitan) 10.10 (Yosemite) and 10.9 (Mavericks)

Our plug-ins work just the same as on older systems. However, they will no longer run "Rosetta", needed by the installer for Quite Imposing and Quite Imposing Plus 2 and older installers of other products. You should run Quite Imposing Plus 3 or Quite Imposing Plus 4.

Some users find problems with the serial number being forgotten on each run. Please update to 3.0k or later.

"Not a compatible copy of Acrobat" with Acrobat 10.1.10

If Acrobat X is upgraded to 10.1.10 or later, you may get the error "Sorry, that does not seem to be a compatible copy of Adobe Acrobat" when installing plug-ins. Please upgrade to
  • Quite Imposing Plus 3.0j or Quite Imposing Plus 4.0 or later.
  • Quite A Box Of Tricks 1.8i
  • Quite Revealing 1.8i

"Apple cannot check for malicious software"

This is Apple's message whenever you try to install older software on macOS Catalina. (What it actually means is that all software must be submitted to Apple for "notarization" in advance by the software developer, something only available for the latest apps). You will not be able to install any Quite product up to version 4 on Catalina. A new version of Quite Imposing Plus and Quite Hot Imposing will be needed. Version 5.0 is available for upgrade now.

"Unidentified developer"

On macOS systems you may get a message Install Quite Plug-ins can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer. This is a normal message caused by macOS settings. Please see this page for solutions. This message should not appear in Quite Imposing Plus 5.0 and later.

"No plug-ins found to install"

You will get this message in 10.12 (Sierra) and later. Upgrade to Quite Imposing Plus 4.0i or later.

Windows information

Our plug-ins are supported on all the same versions of Windows as Acrobat. However, we can no longer support customers with Windows 95, 98, Me, XP, Vista, or NT 4. Please check the system requirements for Adobe Acrobat, as not all versions of Acrobat are supported on all versions of Windows.

Windows 11, 10, 8.1, 7

The latest versions of plug-ins should run in Windows 10 with Acrobat 10 and later, and Windows 7. We no longer test with Windows 8.1, however there are no known issues with Windows 8.1.

Windows 11 was released in October 2021. We have tested with Quite Imposing Plus 5.2 and Quite Hot Imposing 5.0 and we have not found any problems. However, we recommend waiting a while to allow Windows 11 to settle.

Acrobat 64-bit

Starting in 2021, Adobe began to make available a 64-bit Acrobat DC app. Previously Windows Acrobat has always been a 32-bit app (which worked fine in 64-bit systems). This change will need a new version of plug-ins. Quite Imposing Plus 5.2 now includes full support for 64-bit Acrobat DC, as well as continuing to work with 32-bit Acrobat DC and older versions back to Acrobat 9.0. Older versions of Quite plug-ins cannot run in 64-bit Acrobat. More info on 64-bit support.

Protected mode

In mid-2020, Acrobat DC and 2020 added a new option "Protected mode". While this protects from malicious files downloaded from the internet, it stops plug-ins from opening most files, and so we recommend turning it off to work with Quite Imposing Plus. However, a new update Quite Imposing Plus 5.0g was released which allows a lot of the functions of Quite Imposing Plus to continue, with significant limitations. See this page for details.
